Ali's Story

Welcome!

As a retired educator with decades of experience in the public school system, Ali Markfeld brings a unique and well-rounded perspective to the world of homeschooling. Throughout her career, she has worked with thousands of students—ranging from early childhood through high school—as well as parents from all walks of life. This journey has given her deep insight into the wide variety of learning styles, strengths, challenges, values, and family dynamics that shape a child’s education.

Her background is diverse, hands-on, and rooted in real-world experience. She had the privilege of working in and designing many types of learning environments, including:

  • Traditional classrooms
  • Individualized instruction settings
  • Team-teaching environments
  • Project-based learning programs
  • Cooperative learning groups
  • Student–parent workshops
  • Staff development
  • Technology training for educators
  • Student counseling
  • Enrichment workshops
  • Math coordination and support
  • Curriculum development

Seeing education from so many angles has given her a clear view of what truly supports learning—and what often gets in the way. During her time in the public school system, Ali witnessed both the successes and the challenges. She also saw firsthand the limitations and constraints that can prevent students from receiving a tailor-made learning experience that nurtures their curiosity and supports their success.

Homeschooling offers families the freedom to create learning environments built around their children’s strengths, interests, and needs. Ali's goal is to help guide and support you on that journey. Through this site, she aims to share valuable resources, thoughtful recommendations, and the knowledge she has gained from years of working closely with students, parents, and educators.

Ali is excited to walk alongside you as you build an enriching and meaningful educational experience for your family.
